Halfway Point 2018: Resolutions

Something new coming to the blog – my comics!

New Years Resolutions 2018 Comic

A couple of years ago I started drawing and painting as part of my new years resolutions. One of my goals for the next three years is to write a graphic novel so it’s about time to share some of my stuff if I plan to put it out into the world. Goals always move ahead in the small steps but this one feels like a lunge.

If you didn’t know, I’m majorly into planning and I’ve been looking ahead by 3 months, 1 year, and 3 year intervals for the past few years. The goals can change course or I’ll accomplish a goal and move on to the next step. The whole process is actually magic and keeps me on track like nothing else. If this sounds like your jam – here’s the planner I swear by. (FYI: this is not sponsored, although if they expand their rep program to Canada, I’m jumping in. If you buy one, you can use “Meredith Bratland” as your referral!)

It’s June already and I thought this comic about resolutions I drew back in January is fitting and reflective for the halfway point of 2018. January is always a weird month for me because it feels like a fresh start but it’s also the middle of winter in Canada and I’m stuck in the dark. Through darkness comes light? Perhaps, these panels are pretty optimistic.

Do you like the cartoon version of me? :P #toquelife4eva. I think I’m living up to these goals, even if its small steps at a time.

That’s such an awesome idea! I particularly like “halfway points” as a check-in during the year :D
