Playlist – Spring Feels 2018

Playlist Set - Spring Feels 2018

In Alberta, we experience the four seasons in extremes and I feel they are reflected in my everyday life. Especially how I experience music.  In the spring and winter, I’m walking to work and have music in my ears for at least an hour everyday. In the summer, I’m listening at home – on the patio or with friends. Music helps me make sense of my feelings without thinking about them too much. My partner taught me that none of us should feel guilt about our emotions. It’s important to be aware of a feeling and then acknowledge it will pass.

Spring 2018 was a time of really living – there were extreme highs and lows. I got married. Family and friends came together and I’ve never felt more supported. Important people in my life are experiencing big life changes.  World news leaves our heads spinning. I’m being gentle and not ‘should-ing’ all over myself.

This year, I’ve created playlists for each of the seasons and when I listen back, I’m immediately recall the emotions of that time. Here’s my spring list – I hope you enjoy as much as I have.

Music evokes sooo many memories for me. Sometimes I hear a song and it takes me back to the exact moment when I listened to it and I remember what the weather was like, the smells in the air, etc. It’s crazy.

I 100% agree about not feeling guilty about our emotions. I am really learning this lately as well. Our society unfortunately encourages pushing your emotions down because nobody wants to hear them. WRONG.

I am so diggin’ the new Florence + The Machine album, especially Big God!

Thanks for the recommendations. I’m lovin The Beaches.Rock on girl!
